What Is Myotherapy

Myotherapy's Approach

Myotherapy is a holistic therapy that treats the animal as a whole and has both physical and physiological benefits. The use of fingertip massage and the act of “touch” helps to build trust between the therapist and patient.

Gentle manipulation of the bodies muscles and fascia help to relive tension, improve blood flow to the area, and stimulate lymphatic drainage to reduce pain and inflammation. All of this allows the body to work in an ideal body function and balance. Massage is a benefit to all dogs, whether they just want to feel good, are working animals experiencing repetitive overuse of muscles, anxious puppies and those suffering with chronic pain.

Each massage session will take up to one hour. Massage will only be done with your dog’s consent. Therefore, if they aren’t settling or enjoying the experience the session will be brought to an end.

On your initial appointment I will take time to get to know your dog and you. A series of questions will be asked about your home lifestyle, so together we can form a plan to get maximum benefit from these sessions. I will then start with a basic massage technique to allow your pet to get used to being handled and start to build their trust. These will be built upon each week with your dog’s consent to receive a full massage routine.

Before each session your pet will receive a health check to make sure they are healthy enough to receive treatment. You will also be asked how they were after last time and how they are getting on at home to ensure they are getting the most out massage.

It is recommended massages should be given every seven to ten days, however each treatment pattern will be tailored specifically to you and your dog.

At Dogapy Rehabilitation I believe in treating each animal as an individual and looking after them as a whole, rather than just a specific area of treatment.

I look forward to working with you and your dog to make a pain free and happy dog!

How Reiki Works

What is energy?

Everything is made up of energy, every living plane, animal and everything in between. Every single cell in every single being, had a constant energy vibration.

Reiki taps into an animal or human’s energy to keep the energy flowing freely without blockages. There are seven main energy centres within the body (chakras), all responsible for different thing:

  1. Root Chakra – Grounds the person or animal. Helps with trust and ‘fight or flight’ response.

  2. Social Charka – Aids in reproductive.

  3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Helps with growth, physical health and the digestive system.

  4. Heart Chakra – Promotes love and self-esteem.

  5. Throat Chakra – Aids in communications ad relationships to aid feeling heard and understood.

  6. Grown Chakra – Where all the energies start, from top to bottom. Grown Chakra is nearest the ‘greatest good’. It is also what gives the animals individual personality.

  7. Third Eye Chakra – Energies being able to see without haze. It has high spiritual intent, as well as connecting to the animals’ senses.

If there is blockage in one of these Chakras, energy cannot move freely, upsetting emotional balance. This in turn can lead to both physical and emotional imbalances. And example of this would be a sore throat. It can be a blocked Throat Chakra, as you are unable to freely communicate. This has now manifested as a physically sore and swollen throat.

How Can Reiki Help?

Reiki works by using a person or animal as a channel of energy. With the patients consent the practitioner enters the patients Aura and channels energy from Greater Good to unblock and re-energise the Chakras. Reiki us inky ever used for the Greater Good so ‘can do no harm’.

What If My Animal Does Not Like Being Touched?

The brilliant part about Reiki is it knows no boundaries. A non-invasive, no-touching healing can be performed where your pet feels the safest. Whether it is in their home, outside, on my lap it will still work.

Five Principles Of Reiki

  1. Just for today I will not worry

  2. Just for today I will be kind

  3. Just for today I will work well

  4. Just for today I will be grateful

  5. Just for today I will not get angry

Why Choose A Consent-Based Practitioner?

Mutual respect builds trust. A patient who trusts their practitioner will get the most out of their session. Having the choice of where they want to sit, if they need a break, or if they need to get away shows the animal, they are in control. This builds a trusting relationship where they can fully relax and get the most benefit. If an animal is forced into a situation, they are not comfortable with it stimulates their ‘fight or flight’ response, and the release of adrenaline and the stress hormone cortisol into the blood stream. Not only does this mean they are unable to relax, but stress toxins are also released into the body ad the body cannot fully concentrate on the healing it need to do.
